As a village volleyball club, Kings Langley has an open-door policy for anybody interested in playing volleyball. If you'd like to give the game a try, you are welcome to join us. We started a Rooks squad in 2016 to cater for those not yet at county match level. This has proven very popular and has seen some players progress through the club quickly. In 2017/18 we will be structuring our coaching to better cater for beginners, whilst still being able to provide quality squad training.
The competitive season runs from September to May. First fixtures are in October.
Kings Langley Kings
Playing in Men's Division 1 of the HVA.
Kings Langley Knights
Playing in Men's Division 2 of the HVA.
Kings Langley Rooks
This is our development squad; some young, some new, some social players new to competitive volleyball. We organise plenty of friendly matches to bring this squad along.
(Kings Langley Queens - Almost for 2017/18, but we have plenty of ladies in the club, so we're going to try again next season.)
2016/17 Squad Review
Kings finished equal 5th in Men's Division 1 of the HVA. Kings finished in 2nd place in the Herts Men's 2nd Division in the 2013/14, 2014/15 and 2015/16 seasons.
The Knights finished 3rd in Men's Division 2 of the HVA.
The Rooks played 8 friendlies during 2016/17.
We had no ladies team in 2016/17 or 2017/18, but aim to do so in 2018/19. The women's team finished in 5th place in the HVA Women's Division in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 seasons and 6th in 2015/16.
We always enter a team in the Herts Men's KO County Cup.
In 2017/18 we have decided to extend our open-door policy to all juniors, who are now welcome to come and join us. Note, that we do not have a junior team, but we have had U18s who have played in the Men's teams and Ladies' teams very successfully. Note that U15 boys, can play in Ladies' teams under HVA rules. We're open to re-naming that squad something other than "Queens"!
If we feel that you won't be able to enjoy a decent level of play with us, then we'll re-direct younger players to clubs that do cater for juniors such as MK City, VK Barnet and possibly Welwyn & Hatfield.
We have a trained Welfare Officer registered with Volleyball England. Our coach and team captains maintain their DBS check status. Note that U18s will play in the same squads as adults.
We played informally at the St Albans Beach Courts during the summers of 2016 and 2017, under the MeetUp group called "KLVC Beach Volleyball Sessions". It's a good opportunity to come and meet a few of the team before the season starts in September. You can sign up on MeetUp.
